The Red Wing Marina has
been home of the famous “Caboose” since 1983, when Mike Wilson
borrowed the caboose from Ed Flueger. Depending whether
the caboose would meet the
Marina’s needs, would be the
deciding factor as to the longevity of it’s new home.
Here we are 21 years later, and the Caboose is now the icon of
the Red Wing Marina.
 |
It has survived several floods, and now belongs
to it’s third owner, Jim and Cindy Bisek. The Biseks bought
the Marina in 2001, from Randy and Bunny Trok, who are famous
for making the Red Wing Marina the “Friendliest Marina on the
River”. |
The Bisek’s have boated
on the Mississippi for several years, and when the
Marina became available, it was the opportunity of a life time
for them. “We knew Bunny and Randy for quite sometime as
customers, and “Biggerfoot” spent many winters in the
marina.” You may be familiar with any of the Bisek's four
adult children, as they are there to pitch in when ever
needed. “The river has always been a family event for us, so
it is great when the kids can help out,” says Jim. “I love
the people we meet,” says Cindy, a former hairdresser. “I am
definitely a people person.” The Biseks always considered Red
Wing a home away from home, so this was their chance to
move. Jim was the General Manager of several grain elevators
in Mrytle, London, and Glenville, their former home.

The Red Wing
Marina offers overnight stays, gas/oil, ice, pop,
ice-cream, gifts and nautical clothing. The Biseks have
added frozen seafood for their guest’s convenience. “We
are the closest marina to downtown Red Wing, so any
boater can enjoy the whole river town atmosphere.”
